How-to: Packing for a Summer Road Trip

Summer is moving along quickly. A little too quickly for my taste. What happened to June?! I’m starting to get to the point in summer when I frantically start making a list of all the things I want to accomplish before the leaves start to change. Grilling, parks, camping, fruity drinks on the patio. There’s a lot to love about summer (despite the scorching temps). One thing I’ve been itching to do lately is take a quick summer road trip. There are so many places to go in and around Utah, it’s high time we load up the car and see where the road takes us.

I’m usually a terrible packer, always taking far too much for the trip. But I think the point of a road trip is to not over think it. It should feel a bit impulsive and completely relaxed, even if you’ve been planning it for months weeks. And I think I’ve come up with a pretty good combo for a road trip:

Road Trip Packing

With some mixing and matching, these items can stretch for over a week’s worth of outfits. Easy. Now, I just have to figure out where to go…

Anybody been on a great summer road trip this year? What’s your packing strategy?

  1. I love this post. I always have a hard time deciding what to pack and usually end up bringing too much. I’m hoping to get some camping in before the summer is over. A road trip to Yellowstone sounds nice right about now.
