“I’m outdoorsy in that I like getting drunk on patios.”
I’m sure you’ve seen that saying all over Pinterest, but it really does describe me pretty well. I look forward to hanging out on patios all winter long. But camping has never really been my thing. I am slowly starting to come around, though, thanks to my husband. This year for our anniversary we decided to go the staycation route and rented one of the cabins at Jordanelle State Park. The little cabin overlooking Jordanelle Reservoir is kind of like camping, only with a heater and a mini fridge, so it was definitely my style. And to say I wasn’t disappointed would be a pretty serious understatement.
The view from our cabin was absolutely beautiful and just instantly relaxing (though let’s not discredit the effects of a little wine). The gorgeous landscape and quiet surroundings were exactly what we were looking for. We spent our time taking in the scenery, cooking, fishing, and strolling through the state park.
The cabin was cozy, with a heater, fridge, and microwave. The state park’s facilities were great, too. Which, for someone who refuses to “rough it”, is high on my list. They even have showers! They weren’t exactly hot showers, but still. I was impressed.
Between the delicious Dutch oven cooking and amazing views, it was the perfect chill weekend. October might be my favorite month to camp. Who knows, this might even become our anniversary tradition.
