One of the things I’ve always been particularly envious of living in the southern part of Salt Lake County is the lack of unique, quality markets in the area. I mean, we have Harmon’s and, don’t get me wrong, I’m total heart eyes for Harmon’s. They are my go-to. My staple. But I’ve always wished I lived closer to a place like Liberty Heights Fresh that focuses more on local products. Which is why I was VERY excited when I heard about Honey Bee Produce Company.
Honey Bee Produce Company opened recently down on 123rd South in Draper and while not exactly directly in my ‘hood, it’s still decidedly closer than a lot of other local-first grocery stores. I finally made it over there to check them out last weekend and I was very pleasantly impressed.
Honey Bee Produce Company is located in Draper, Utah. It is a one-of-a-kind grocery shopping experience, featuring Utah’s best produce selection, quality, organics and great everyday prices. They source their produce from dozens of Utah growers and are working together to building a happier, healthier Utah. Honey Bee Produce Company – your new home for local grocery shopping.
That’s how Honey Bee Produce Company describes their purpose and mission on the website and it definitely felt accurate when I got there. Walking in, I immediately assumed everything was going to be Whole Foods-level prices. I mean, they’ve got a tight selection of gorgeous produce, fill-your-own-bottle olive oil and balsamic vinegar options, a very nice cheese section, and LOADS of local items. But as I started checking out their prices I was thrilled to see they are either completely reasonable or actually cheaper than I expected.
What I really liked about Honey Bee Produce Company was the size of the store. It’s not a huge store but you can tell they’ve carefully curated everything inside. You can find anything you need while also discovering cool items you never expected, all without getting overwhelmed.
I’m telling you, Draper is blowing up lately. And while it’s still a bit out of the way for me, it’s nice to have options that don’t require driving downtown all the time.
